HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR OWN TALE OF THE BATTLE

It is so important to know what is ahead of you when you are first diagnosed with cancer. Hopefully you were able to talk with someone who had undergone the same treatment as you were facing. Here is your chance to help others. By sitting down and writing what happened to you during the various phases of treatment will be so beneficial to others, but also be beneficial to you. Write how you felt physically and emotionally, and how you dealt with the side effects of treatment during and after the treatment. You’ll be surprised at how far you have come!

The story can be from a patient’s point of view or from a family member or close friend.

When you submit your story we ask that you follow a few guidelines. We feel it is important that you tell how or when you realized you had cancer. People without cancer want to know what symptoms you had before you were diagnosed. This helps those who are healthy, to be more aware of their body and be able to monitor themselves more closely. Education is a powerful tool in looking after oneself.

Including specific details such as the ones below will help those just diagnosed identify their cancer with yours:

• Type of cancer
• Diagnosis date
• Stage of cancer
• Stage of tumor
• Surgery
• Radiation
• Chemotherapy
