HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR OWN "MAKING LIFE MY VACATION" STORY

The main thing we are looking for is how your life has changed since being in the cancer game.

When we say “cancer game”, it could be the person with the disease or could be a parent, spouse, child, sibling or good friend. The cancer game unfortunately is not an individual sport, but a team game. The change may be so subtle you haven’t realized you are going about your life a little differently.

This should be a time of reflection. The change may be emotional, social, physical and/or psychological. What are you doing to “Make Life Your Vacation”? Everything after the treatment of cancer seems like a vacation. If you haven’t come to that realization yet, then now is the time. Let us know what you are doing differently. If you feel you haven’t changed anything in your life, then write in and tell us what you are going to do differently.

If you sense I am coming on a little too strong, I am. We only go around once on this planet so you had better start making each day a great day. It doesn’t matter if you have all the money in the world or you are struggling to make ends meet – if you get sick, money is not part of the solution. It’s a level playing field in the chemotherapy room, the operating table and the radiation room. We all wear the same designer hospital wardrobe with our butts hanging out and we let people touch and probe us where we have never been probed before. Yikes!!

So in closing, tell us how you “make Life Your Vacation”. You may submit your story via e-mail, or through the forum. If you have any humorous anecdotal stories please send them in. We all need a laugh; it beats crying.

If you would like to have your e-mail posted with your story, let us know. This way perhaps people who have been recently diagnosed can e-mail you for support. They will undoubtedly have lots of question.
