Oh, yesterdays are over my shoulder,
So I can't look back for too long.
There's just too much to see waiting in front of me,
and I know that I just can't go wrong
with these...(to chorus)

These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes;
Nothing remains quite the same.
Through all of the islands and all of the highlands,
If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane

Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, by Jimmy Buffet

I was out for a walk listening to my ipod, enjoying the lyrics to this Jimmy Buffet song. I have never been a person to obsess about the past, but rather I enjoy looking forward to seizing each day because “ There’s just too much to see waiting in front of me.” Certainly, I realize that the C word has definitely made the present and future more palatable than my journey through cancer treatments. My attitude is my choice, and I prefer not to dwell on what I cannot change. If you look at attitude as a preference, it puts a different spin on how you look at a glass of water. For me, being half full defines how I think, rather than half empty. “Nothing remains quite the same” so lamenting about what used to be wastes my energy. Embracing change is just one more asset I have in winning at life.

"What makes cancer so horrific is how it continues to torment and taunt its victims long after the treatments are finished"
